CHALARKA REMIX

deutsche Version
/// versión española

Remixing Chalarka" is an artistic research project by Christian Diaz Orejarena and Carolina Pinzón Rivera which has been realized in Colombia and Germany since September 2021. Archival materials of the Orlando Fals Borda Archive in Montería as well as the historical comics of the Colombian cartoonist Ulianov Chalarka about peasants’ revolts in the 1980s are the starting point for an experimental and social remix of Colombian resistance history in the present.

Within workshops with young people in Bogotá, Monteria and Berlin we will investigate these stories and search for audio-visual equivalents in the present. The materials of this research will be used to create an essayistic film - a polyphonic narrative about urban resistance in the global North and South.

Remixing Chalarka is a collective experiment that by using the means of socially-engaged-action-art develops visual narrative or  gestures of resistance that transgress and thwart hierarchies of power and patterns  interpretation.
